The work of a teacher educator is inherently challenging. Doctoral students in colleges of Education are often asked to take on the role of Teacher Educator with little prior experience and ongoing support. This situation is problematic because many of these doctoral students will go on to be tenure track or clinical faculty who will continue to work with the next generation of teachers. If they are to be successful as teacher educators, then it is important that they receive adequate preparation and support to foster their professional growth.
The Graduate Teacher Educator Network seeks to address these issues though research, seminars, orientations, and building communities of practice.
